Jin Shin Jyutsu | Self-Help | FAQ's

Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient holistic healing art. This art was handed down by word of mouth for centuries. As with any oral tradition, the true essence and accuracy of the art eventually became changed, watered down and called by different names. This resulted in many other less effective arts and techniques.

In the early 1900's in Japan, a man by the name of Jiro Murai revived this art, bringing it to 20th century culture. As a young man he was diagnosed as terminally ill. Even the medical professionals in his own family couldn't find a way to help him. In a last act of desperation he asked to be taken to the family cabin in the mountains where he stayed alone for a week.

During that time, he used what he knew of an art we now call Jin Shin Jyutsu on himself, combined with deep meditation. What he experienced varied from states of consciousness to unconsciousness, and he lost body heat daily. On the seventh day, he felt as if he had been lifted out of a freezer and thrown into a hot furnace. When the heat subsided, his pain was gone and he was completely well. He was so grateful he vowed to spend his life researching and sharing this art. For the next 50 years he did just that. In his study and travels, Master Murai became known for his healing art, Jin Shin Jyutsu. Mary Burmester brought Jin Shin to the United States and has been practicing and teaching it for over fifty years.
